COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Public Notice Following Government Announcement on 23 March

In line with Government guidance on 23 March, The Harpur Centre is now closed for all retailers except those providing essential goods and services who at present are, Grape Tree, Specsavers,  Superdrug, Boots and Price-Check. Please note that the retailers are now also operating as card only.

Please check retailers’ social media channels and websites for news on individual store closures or opening times. The situation is evolving quickly so please be aware that published opening hours may vary among retailers and change at short notice.

We are working hard to ensure that we can continue to provide a level of service to support retailers who are continuing to trade and serving their communities at this time.

We would like to thank our retailers and Centre teams who are all working extremely hard in very challenging and unprecedented circumstances to ensure visitors are able to access goods and services. We would appreciate your support in respecting Government’s advice to adhere to social distancing.

Thank You.

Multi-Storey Car Parks Closed Except Queen Street

To enable the Council to prioritise staff on essential duties at this extraordinary time, all of the Council’s multi-storey car parks apart from Queens Street will be closed, until further notice.

With updated Government guidance around staying at home and increased pressure on Council services, the decision has now been made to completely close Lurke Street, River Street and Allhallows car parks until further notice. Queen Street multi-storey car park will remain open 24/7.

Alternative parking is available with over 1,000 spaces at surface car parks including Riverside Car Park, St Mary’s, St Peter’s, Duckmill Lane, Ashburnham Road, Prebend Street and Melbourne Street, and on-street parking will be available as always.
