Harpur Centre and Heart Radio Wishing Tree Appeal

Visit the Harpur Centre Wishing Tree!

This winter The Harpur Centre needs your help granting the wishes of underprivileged children across Bedfordshire. Between now and the 20th of December, pick a name tag from the Wishing Tree in the Harpur Centre and buy a gift for that child. Pop it back under the Wishing Tree unwrapped, and the child aged 0 – 16, will get it in time for Christmas. So while you’re choosing presents for your family why not add an extra gift to your basket to pop under the tree to make a child’s day extra special?

All the gifts collected will be distributed by organisations that support underprivileged children and families in Bedfordshire and delivered in time for Christmas Day.

How does it work?

1. Head to the Wishing Tree in the Harpur Centre, Bedford.

2. Choose one of the 100’s of the ‘Boy’ or ‘Girl’ tags.

3. Have fun selecting an appropriate gift from the Harpur Centre’s stores.

4. Wrap the gift and attach the tag.

5. Drop the gift back at the tree by Wednesday 20th December.

6. Enjoy the warm feeling from making a child’s Christmas more special!

The Harpur Centre Wishing Tree is organised in partnership with Heart Radio and has been running with increasing support for the past five years Last year, over 170 presents were donated by staff at bpha Housing Association and the shopping centre’s office Aecom filled their boardroom table with gifts all adding to the thousands that customers kindly donated.

This year, Bedfordshire Police and Police Crime Commissioner, Kathyrn Holloway have also offered to support the Wishing Tree Appeal by having a tree at the Police Station and then delivering the presents to the Harpur Centre to help give a child in Bedfordshire a magical Christmas. The presents collected are all distributed to local underprivileged children with the help of Bedford Borough Council in time for Christmas.

Samantha Laycock, Harpur Centre Manager, said: “We would like to thank our customers, local businesses and emergency services for supporting our 2017 Wishing Tree Appeal. Gifts for underprivileged children and families in Bedfordshire will be delivered in time for Christmas again this year.”
